Kleftiko
the surreal white sea caves and rock arches of the old pirate bay
A wild, otherworldly cove of white cliffs and sapphire water. Best by boat, even better at sunrise when it’s just you and the sea.
Kleftiko ("Thalassina Meteora" / Sea Meteora) is a famous sea-cave and rock-formation complex at the southwestern tip of Milos, accessible mainly by boat. Once a pirate hideaway (named from the Greek 'kleftis', thief), it features white-gray volcanic cliffs, natural arches, and caves over crystal-clear turquoise water. Visitors swim, snorkel, paddleboard, and dinghy into the caves; many full-day catamaran/sailing tours also stop at Kalogria Beach and Sykia Cave. Tours run roughly 6-8 hours from Adamas, while short speedboat trips depart the south coast. The curator's note about visiting by boat at sunrise to avoid crowds is corroborated by the area being a top, often-busy day-trip destination.
