Sykia Cave
the natural skylight where the collapsed cave roof opens to the sky
Hidden sea cave with a natural skylight. Remote, dramatic, and unforgettable on a calm‑sea day.
Sykia Cave is one of the largest and most striking sea caves on the remote west coast of Milos, reachable only by boat. Its defining feature is an open roof — a natural skylight created when part of the ceiling collapsed (likely from an ancient earthquake) — through which sunlight illuminates a salt lake and small interior beach, shifting colors through the day. It is commonly paired with Kleftiko on full-day boat tours (motorboats, sailing yachts, or RIBs), often departing around 10:00 AM from Adamas with swimming and snorkeling stops. Visits depend heavily on sea conditions, so calm-sea days are best. This corroborates the curator's note of a dramatic, remote, skylit sea cave.
