One of Vienna's first specialty coffee shops and a roaster, with a flagship in the historic Palais Ferstel arcade (Herrengasse 14) in the Inner City. Founded by former Austrian latte-art champion Georg Branny, it's known for in-house-roasted single-origin beans and precise, barista-driven flat whites.
A stylish aparthotel set inside Vienna's 300-year-old former central post office in the historic 1st district, a short walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Danube Canal. Studios and apartments come with kitchens and flexible sleeping setups, and the building houses the Rascal Viennese brasserie, the coffee-house-inspired Oscar's cafe bar, and a courtyard art installation, making it a characterful base for exploring the old city.
A specialty coffee shop and roaster on Mariahilfer Strasse in Vienna's Rudolfsheim (15th district), opened in 2017 by Katharina, her brother and her Peruvian husband Junior. Known for in-house direct-trade light-to-medium roasts, barista workshops and weekend Peruvian breakfasts.
A Viennese institution on Bognergasse in the Innere Stadt, running since 1618 and dressed in dark wood and Art Nouveau brass and glass. It works as both an upscale restaurant and a stand-up delicatessen bar, and the thing to order is the open-faced Broetchen (roast beef with horseradish, egg with anchovy) eaten standing with a glass of Gruner Veltliner. Expect a lively, moneyed local crowd; book for the dining room, but the bar is the more atmospheric, walk-in way in.
Bright and modern roastery energy with the hum of grinders and easy chatter. Mornings bring laptop‑toting regulars and students; later it shifts to slow coffee sips and people‑watching. Warm service, clean lines, and excellent aroma.
