BOB Coffee Lab
single-origin beans roasted in-house by a World Coffee Roasting Champion
Champion-owned roastery in a charming interwar villa near Herăstrău Park. They roast exceptional beans from Panama to Indonesia in-house, creating unique flavor profiles that elevated Bucharest's coffee scene. Perfect spot for specialty coffee, craft beer, and desserts on their shaded terrace.
In Aviatorilor, Bucharest. Easy to fold into a morning or a longer afternoon; there's usually something else worth a stop within a few minutes' walk.
BOB Coffee Lab was founded in 2017 by Alexandru Niculae (World Coffee Roasting Champion 2016) and Paul Ungureanu (3rd at the 2015 World Coffee in Good Spirits), and sits in an old Romanian-style villa at Piața Charles de Gaulle near Herăstrău Park. It is a specialty roastery-café roasting carefully selected single-origin beans from regions like Panama and Indonesia in-house, with a roastery visible through submarine-like round windows. Alongside espresso, cappuccino, flat white, hot chocolate and matcha, it serves desserts (almond cookies, cakes), sandwiches and craft beer, with a tree-shaded terrace popular on sunny days. It is rated ~4.1 on Tripadvisor and was ranked 46th in a 2025 list of the world's 100 best coffee shops. Web research strongly corroborates the curator's notes.
